So happy when I received a call from my recently married friend Faatin a few days ago.
She wanted to hire me as her makeup artist for her reception on her husband's side.
Fyi, I was down with fever & flu for the pass few days, so I was quite worried that I could not deliver my service due to my health condition.
But thanks to Allah, alhamdulillah, I was feeling quite ok for that day.
No running nose, no coughing, although I was not fully recovered.
Everything went well with our little session, although it ran a little bit late because I arrived late, lost in directions earlier.

Anywho, here are the photos, Faatin wore a bright red dress, so I paired it with maroon-ish bronzy eye makeup with red lips. Enjoy!

Hi all.
This weekend, I had two sessions, one for a solemnization ceremony, & one for a reception for the same bride.
She is actually my returning customer.
I did the makeup for her engagement awhile ago, and she hired me again to do her wedding this time. :)
I am so thankful, at least I know one person who actually like my work.
She booked me a few months ago for all three ceremonies, her solemnization, and both her & his receptions.

Initially, I wanted to share two of our sessions in one post, but I accidentally forgot to bring my camera on Sunday, and only manage to share pictures of the first session this time.
Hopefully she will email me some photos of the second makeup soon.

One thing I love working with this girl is that she is very specific in what she wanted.
She sent me photos of the hairstyles she wanted way back when, and she prepared some reference photos for the makeup that she want for all three events.
I don't have to worry whether my smoky eyes is too dark for her or my foundation is too thick for her.
I just pick up some inspiration from the collage of makeup references, and go with it.

Anyway, for her solemnization ceremony, she wanted a simple fresh faced makeup with light brown on the eyes and glowing skin.
For the hair, she wanted a half up-do, with romantic curls going down the back.
I sort of did Taylor Swift's curls on her and pinned half of it up messily.

I love how the skin still looks dewy & glowy even without flash photography.

You might not see the hair properly under the veil, but it's just a wavy loose half up-do.

Hello makeup lovers.
This post is long over due.
I hosted a makeup class in January for these three beautiful and wonderful girls, Kak Azian, Kak Hajah and also Suhana.
It was just a basic makeup class, for girls who are just starting out with makeup, sort of a zero knowledge basic class.
My girls were fast learners, and I was so happy that I had a chance to know them.

Hopefully, they will join my next class for Advance Bridal, once they have fully practiced what I've shared with them in our previous session.

Made a couple of makeovers yesterday during the Ekspo Kahwin KL, held at Wangsa Walk Mall for 3 whole days from the 4th to th 6th of MArch, 2011..
The event was organized by Mosyas company, thanks to Kiki & Iz, for their hard work.

There was a fashion going on at 5.30 pm that day, I sent a model, Aida down the runway.
Makeup of course by me, Ekyn Nikiys, and the dress is from our collection, Enchanted Weddings.

Here is a before & after shot of the makeup followed by a few shots from our official photographer, D'Snapshot Photography.

Also, I did the makeup for a friend of my sister, Kila. I just did a simple shimmery smokey eyes, with super glowing bronze skin, since she is naturally golden tan with Rihanna-esqe features.

Sorry the quality of the pictures is different, due to the fact that both picture were taken by 2 different cameras.
In the first image, before picture by D'Snapshot Photography, Canon EOS 20D, while the after was taken by me using my Canon Powershot S5 only. :(

Kali ini, entri Ekyn berbahasa Melayu pula.
Untuk pengetahuan semua, tahun 2011 ini, Ekyn akan beroperasi di Enchantique Makeup Studio yang berada di Medan Mara, Kuala Lumpur. Studio Ekyn adalah dengan kerjasama Enchanted Weddings by Koleksi Wawasan Bridal Boutique.

Setelah lama mempertimbangkan idea ini, Ekyn pun memberanikan diri untuk memulakan kelas solekan secara kecil-kecilan. Antara sebabnya, Ekyn sedar teknik yang Ekyn sendiri gunakan agak berbeza dengan apa yang dipraktikkan oleh kebanyakan MUA yang Ekyn kenal di Malaysia ini. Bukan Ekyn nak kata teknik mereka salah atau betul, tapi hakikatnya, solekan itu adalah satu bentuk seni, dan seni itu pula sesuatu yang subjektif bukan?

Sesuatu hasil seni itu, mungkin cantik pada mata seseorang individu itu, tapi tak semestinya cantik pada mata yang lain. Jadi Ekyn faham kalau ada yang tak berkenan dengan hasil tangan Ekyn, tapi alhamdulillah, syukur ada juga yang sukakan hasil kerja tangan Ekyn ini.

Jadi, dengan berbekalkan sedikit keyakinan yang ada pada diri ini, Ekyn cuba memenuhi permintaan beberapa kenalan yang ingin belajar sedikit sebanyak ilmu di dada Ekyn ini. Kiranya, Ekyn anggap ini satu sesi bertukar-tukar pengalaman. Ekyn akan ajar sesuatu yang baru pada anda, dan diharap pada masa yang sama Ekyn juga dapat mempelajari sesuatu yang baru juga.

Bagi kelas yang akan Ekyn adakan buat julung-julung kali ini, Ekyn akan fokus pada teknik-teknik solekan yang terkini, tidak kira yang asas atau pun yang rumit.

Antaranya yang akan Ekyn masukkan sebagai silibus kelas pertama Ekyn ini ialah satu teknik sapuan foundation atau base yang sangat pantas, tetapi tetap memberikan efek yang lembut yang cantik. Selain itu, Ekyn akan fokus pada solekan mata terkini yang sering memjadi permintaan pelanggan Ekyn; Arabic Eyes dan Smokey Cat Eyes, juga penggunaan bulu mata atas dan bawah. Akan Ekyn selitkan juga trend terkini solekan bibir iaitu Efek 3D. Ekyn akan cuba sertakan juga solekan asas untuk lelaki agar pengantin lelaki juga kelihatan tampan dan kacak pada hari istimewa mereka.

Juga, setelah tamat setiap sesi solekan, Ekyn akan adakan sesi fotografi pula. Sesi ini akan dikendalikan oleh fotografer profesional dan akan dijadikan sebahagian daripada portfolio peserta. Untung sesiapa yang sertai kursus ini.

Outdoor Shoot: Ti'qa - 28.12.10

I did an outdoor photoshoot today.
Thanks to Ti'qa for giving me this opportunity.

She's actually entering a contest held by Tudung Fareeda.
So good luck to her, hope she gets it.
She is very talented as a model, very bold and brave.
Highly respects her for that.
Well, enough about her, going on about the shoot.
Promised her to start at 10am, but as usual, I will be 15 minutes late.
I went there with my sister Elyna.
But I was glad; I wasn't the only one late.
The photographer was late as well.
It is quite a funny story; apparently Ti'qa did not have the contact number of the photographer that was supposed to shoot her.
She did contact the photog last night through FB and arranged our little shoot, but missed his contact number due to the bad internet connection she had last night.
So, she was busy calling everybody she knows for his contact number, and finally managed to get one of her friends that had his number.
Actually, at the same time, the photog was also calling everybody to get to her.
Thank god, finally.
So, once Felix, our photog arrived, we started our makeup session at about 12pm.
And we started our shoot at about 2pm.
I did not wait until the end of the shoot, because my sis Elyna needed to get back home.
Well, that's the short version of the story.
So here are a few shots by my sis Elyna.

Tiny Model: Hana Qistina at The Regency - 26.12.10

This post is not really about makeup.
I just felt like sharing a few pictures of my cousin, Hana.
I just love how my little cousin, Hana is so into makeup.
She comes from a family with three boys, and she is the youngest girl and yet she is such a girly girl in all possible ways.
All things pink, frilly dresses, teddy bears and Barbie dolls and of course makeup, btw, she's only 3 years old!
She celebrated her 3rd birthday last Sunday, in P.D. with her whole family and mine too.
That evening, she went to our room and I ended up giving her a 'makeover' as her birthday treat!
She was so excited! She even chose her own color of blusher, the brightest most shocking pink I owned in my palette, that shows how much she loves pink.
After that we had a little photo session by our little balcony.
Wow, she knows how to pose, just like a professional, she took instructions pretty well, considering that she always do things in her cute little way.

Dinner Makeup at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa - 15.12.10

Hi all.
I haven't really written anything in my past few posts other that the basic descriptions.
So, I'm going to write a few things from my heart tonight.
Last week on Wednesday, I had a job from none other than my loyal customer, my Mak Ude at the location as above.
She was attending a Shell Company annual dinner that night.
I went there with my two sisters, one as my navigator, and the other one as my PA. Lol~

As we arrive at 4.15 pm, my friend Moon is already waiting there for me.
Moon was going to do the makeup for 2 of my aunt's friends in a different room, and I was going to attack my aunt's and her sister's faces in another room. Haha *evil laugh*.
Our clients were in a conference until 5.00 pm, so we waited there.
While we waited we talked and asked a few questions, and talked some more, shared experiences and of course gossiped.
Maybe I'll share some of things we talked about one day.

Once our clients are done with their conference, we went straight to the lift lobby.
That's where we had a bit of a complication.
My aunt introduced Moon to one of her friends that Moon was supposed to do makeup for, but the lady said she did not make any reservation for Moon and that she has already booked her own makeup person.
Hmm.. That's weird because my aunt was very sure she booked for Moon through their other friend.
What ever the deal was my aunt is very sure that that lady was trying to sabotage her.
Kind of childish for a mature woman of her age if that was the case.
My aunt was not going to let that happen, she called around, asking if any of her friends would like to have a makeup artist at that time.
Thank god someone wanted one, so Moon still get to do 2 makeup sessions even though the first lady cancelled. Amin~

So, with all the things going on, my aunt getting ready, taking a bath, calling around and what not, we started our makeup session at about 5.45 pm.
And I started doing her sister's makeup at about 6.50 pm. About 30 minutes to go!!
And both of them were supposed to be ready by 7.15 pm, 7.30 is the cutting time.
But Alhamdulillah, we manage the get ready in time (I think), exactly 7.30 pm they walked out the door.
They left us in the room, packing my stuffs.
So, with all the havoc going on, I only managed to snap one picture of my aunt, (not so great quality , due to the camera setting and bad lighting) and none of her sister .*Sad*

So here it is the one shot, hopefully it is still appreciate-able.

Salina's Bridal Party - 17.10.2010

I was introduces to Salina by my dear friend Dean a.k.a Qish (She's a great cupcakes baker).
So this job is credited to you Dean. Thanks girl.
Salina asked me to do the hair and makeup for the bridal party (i.e. Mother & Sister of the Bride, and the bridesmaids).
With the help of my sister, Elyna (she did most of the hair-do), we manage to get 5 people in total, ready for their _ _ _ _ _ (Insert: daughter's/sister's/cousin's/friend's) big day.

(The first one I did was the Mother of the Bride, whom I did not had the chance to take a photo of =(( )

Then I did Salina's cousin (Did not get her name, sorry dear).
She was a very young girl, so I tried to stay in the softer side with pinks on the lids, cheeks, and lips (So cute with the curly hair, right??).

This is with her complete outfit.

Next in line was the Bridesmaid, I believe she is a very good friend of the Bride.

The next one is the older sister of the girl in the first picture, Azie (Sorry if I got your name wrong).

Follows is a picture of Azie and her younger sister, and also with the bridesmaid.

And last, but not least the busiest girl on that day, the Maid of Honor / Sister of the Bride, Surya, she was in a rush, so I had to do makeup in a rush as well. So I opted for a simple smokey eyes, just concentrating on the cheeks. Didn't even apply mascara because she requested so, but it's ok, because she's naturally pretty.

Engagement Makeup with Nora- 25.09.2010

I had no problems with her.
She was very specific with want she want for both the hair and makeup (yes, I did both).
She booked me a few week before Ramadhan, and forwarded and picture of a simple messy up-do.
And for the makeup, she show me a picture just before we start our session.
She wanted something fresh and nothing to heavy.

So for the skin, she had no problems, I just used my Revlon's Photoready Foundation (my love...) to give her clear and dewy complexion.
Eyes as explain above.

She is a very sweet and friendly girl. I lovely doing her makeup.
Her skin was pretty much clear except for a couple of zits (due to engagement stress??).
Anyway, nothing to heavy, she requested a very simple & light look, with just a tiny bit of smoke.
She did not want to offend any of the relative with too much makeup she said. =))
So here is the makeup, and again I did not manage to snap the before photo (as usual).

The head accessory is also provided by me.

Photoshoot Makeup with Fatin for Hijabulousity - 13.07.10

Hello guys.
So, I went to my cousin's place the other day, to do a simple photo session with her.
We did this little makeup & shoot session to help promote my blogshop.
Well I'm currently selling hijabs and shawls as well.
So, she volunteered to be my model and help me model all the collections I have.
It was a very tiring, but fun day.

For the makeup, I did a simple green smokey eye with dark purple eyeliner.t
Nothing specially, just to get her camera ready.
Initially, I gave her a very sweet looking dusty rose pink lips.
But after having lunch, she rummaged through my traincase and found a super bright neon purple lipstick and decided to give it a go.
After she put it on, I thought why not, right?
Hence the super eye catching lips in some of the shots.

So, here are a few shots of the entire evening.

Face Painting: A Different Kind Of Art - 10.07.10

It was a super fun day last Saturday.
I was hired by my aunt, who was the owner of USJ 25 Shell station to be part of her Shell V Power Carnival.
The job was to provide face paintings to the kids that were there.

So, a few day before that, I went to a costume store at The Weld to buy a face painting kit.
Who would have known those stuff are expensive.
A kit containing 6 tiny pans of colors cost me RM40.
I could buy a palette of eyeshadows with that much money. Haha~
Since it was soo tiny, I bought 2.
But it actually was quite a lot since it is water activated.
Meaning, you have to add water for those things to work.
But it was not the best quality.
The red is a bit orangey and the yellow just doesn't show up, and the gree is a bit too dark.

Anyway, this is my first time doing this kind of job, and it was fun.
Popular designs for the boys are World Cup teams and of course , Spiderman.
And for the girls, flowers and butterflies.

2nd Place in Pertandingan Andaman Pameran Pengantin Malaysia - 04.07.10

Hye guys.
Good morning. =)
If you have been following my blog, you would probably already know that I was going to enter a bridal makeup contest on the 4th.
Well, I did enter it yesterday. It was held at Midvalley Exhibition Center.

For this contest, I know in my mind that I wanted to do an arabic look.
But of course, before I could do the look, I need a suitable dress to go with the makeup look.
I've asked around if any of my family members have anything in their wardrobe that could pass an arabic bridal dress.
My cousin, suggested a few, and also my aunt.
But at last I found one in my sister's closet, a bright fuchsia pink jubah.
I was actually looking for something in white, but since I love to play with colors, I changed my mind and used that instead.

So that morning, the day of the contest, we went to City One Plaza to look for a matching hijab and veil.
So, we found a same colored, Syrian styled hijab.
Next, looking for a veil.
In the midst of trying a few different ones, I saw something else.
It was some sort of a bib, decorated with beads and sequins and I thought that it was perfect just to amp up my dress.
I got one in a bright pink color and bought a fuchsia pink veil as well.
So, off to Midvalley we go!!

My model for this time is my cousin, Faten.
We were contestant number 3.
She had great skin, but the only challenge for me here is her asymmetrical eyes.
The contest started at 4.30 and ended at 5.30 pm.
Then it was time to do some catwalking and all that fun stuff.
After that, the judges had some time to evaluate.
Oh, one of the judges was Nurin, from Nurin Makeover.
I love her work. =)

So after a little pass 6.00, they announced the top three winner, starting with 2nd placing.
And guess who?
It was none other than moi! =D
Happy, happy time!!

So yeah, that was it.
I changed namecards with a few people.
It was an unforgettable moment for me.
My family was there, my mom and dad, bro and sis, except for Scha, who is away in college right now.
My aunt came with her daughter, my model was my cousin.
It really was a family event that day.

This post is way long, but I just wanted to share every moment with you guys.

Trial Makeup: Fatin (Arabian Inspired) - 03.07.10

Hey everybody.
I thought I might share a few photos of the trial makeup for my contest with you guys.
The trial session was done a day before the actual contest at my humble abode.
It was actually really late at night and both of us was really tired.
But I insist on doing a trial because I was afraid of the time limit and also this is my first time doing such dramatic makeup on Fatin.
I was not very satisfied with the whole outcome, so I studied my flaws and tried not to do them the next day.
Some of the mistakes I did was the type of eyeliner used, the angle of the liner and the shade of the lips.
Anyway, here are a few shots of the look paired with 2 types of head-gears.
Both owned by us.
And oh, I was not even bothered to put on fake lashes or mascaras. Lol~

Engagement Makeup with Juju - 28.03.2010

Hey guys.
I know I have been so unproductive for the past few weeks.
Well, I thought of sharing a few pictures from a previous job of mine.
It was the engagement ceremony for Juju.
She is the sister to a friend of mine and my former roommate in college, Ca'en.
Thanks Ca'en for giving me this opportunity.

Anyway, the ceremony was held at their home in Subang Jaya.
Juju don't really wear makeup often.
I didn't want to scare her off with dark makeup, so I opted for a soft silver-ish purple smokey eyes.
She tends to have oily skin, so I gave her an overall matte foundation finish with a little bit of natural glow.
I also gave her sweet pinky blush and matching lips to go with the look.

I was glad that she loved the finished result, and so did her family.
I just wanna thank Ca'en and her entire family for just being so great.
A belated congratulations to Juju and her fiancee, and hope there is going to be a big wedding soon!
Hopefully, she would like to have my services again too. =))

Just a quick update.
I will be participating in a bridal makeup contest again soon.
The contest will be held at Midvalley Exhibihition Centre on the 4th of July, 2010 at 4.30 pm, in conjunction with the Pameran Pengantin Malaysia 2010.

I have been wanting to do a tutorial for a look that I really2 liked.
It is a look worn by Diana Danielle on her cover for Remaja in April.
She was wearing a really pretty and sweet looking makeup with green and pink and it is super adorable.
That was the only reason why I bought that magazine in the first place.
I never buy Remaja. I think I'm too old for that! Haha~

Avon Beauty Workshop with Zulfazli - 25.04.10

Hey guys.
Loooong time no update. Sorry bout that.
Nothing much going on lately.

I just wanted to share something with you guys.
Last Saturday, on the 25th, I went for a beauty/makeup workshop held by AVON with my mom.
It was held at Nikko Hotel from 1.30pm until 5-ish, I think.
I can't remember.

They had Norish Karman as their MC, and she was very classy and funny.
She shared a little bit of her beauty secrets with us.

But the main reason I was exited bout this event was because sifu Zulfazli was there as the invited makeup artist.
He shared some of his tips and tricks with us.

We also bought two copies of he makeup book, Cantik.
One for my sisters, and one for me!
I even got Zulfazli himself to autographed it for me.
I love the book! The looks featured are great.
I definately prefer this one compared to the one by Amy Janz.
Sorry =(

Oh yeah, we received a bag full of makeup goodies each, but I gave mine to my sister, because I already have most of the items except for their One Great Mascara and the lipstick (can't remember the name of it).

Dinner Makeup | Elyna - 27.03.10

So, last Saturday I did Elyna's makeup.
She's attending her hostel's Seri Ayu dinner that night.
The theme was RAINBOW!!
Yippee~

She was going to wear a simple black baju kurung that has slashes all colors all over it.
So, did not to make anything over and dramatic for her (since she's just a student and wanted to maintain the 'keayuan' of her baju kurung).
Nothing heavy on the foundation, just a little bit of blush on the cheeks.
For the eyes, I went witha colorful rainbow look to go with her dinner theme.
And I gave her a bright fuschia pink lips just for fun.

Pameran Pengantin 2010 - Final Day

14th of March is the final day for Pameran Pengantin 2010.
Boo-hoo~
Today I entered their bridal makeup contest.
There were 12 contestants altogether.
I entered the contest along with Munirah and Yuzie (both from Nurul Shukor Academy as well).
One of us made the to placings, but sadly it wasn't me.
Congrats to the winners.
You guys did very well.
And your costumes were superb!!

Anyways, I did not manage to snap any detail pictures of the makeup I did on Fida for the contest. =(

Pameran Pengantin 2010 - Day 02

Day 2 of the Pameran Pengantin 2010 held at PWTC.
I did the makeup for Pelamin Hati's model again.
Today she wore a bright pink kebaya jawa and she requested to wear her hair down.
So, I decided to give her a half up-do, no buns used.
Again with fresh flowers as decorations.
As for the makeup, we played it low today, keeping it as a soft socket with really light pearly pink on the lids and a light wash of smoke on the creases and outer corners.

Owh! I also did Farah's trial makeup.

Model Makeover with Faatin Nasreen - 11.03.10

We went back to the 60's in today's class.
From putting on the perfect red lips and creating those thick winged liners on the eyes.
These two should be paired with soft natural eye shadows on the lids, to bring out the artistic liners and siren red lips.

One of my favorite class.
I love red lips.
I haven't worn red lips for quite some time now, but doing this class makes me wanna wear red lips again.
The reason why I've stopped wearing red lips is because of my hair.
I don't think I can wear red lips with my bright red hair.
Well, my hair isn't bright red anymore, but it still has the hint of redness in it.
I mis my light brown almost coppery blond hair from before. The first time I bleached my hair.
That was fun.

Anyways, back to my class last night, Faatin wasn't confident about putting on the red lips.
She was a bit conscious about her lips being so wide and full, that it might makes it overwhelming.
But after a little bit of convincing by me, she started to like it (I think?).
It does suits her face, since she had a very classic facial structure, as Kak Nurul pointed out.
So, she was a bit disappointed went Kak Nurul ask me to tone down the color a bit when we were about to leave.
Well. Kak Nurul had good intention for doing that. She didn't want Faatin to fell uncomfortable leaving the room with that lips.
But, to tell you the truth, she had started to like the color on her.

Again, too much blabbing.

So, I'm back again with my model makeover.
And this time I brought another old classmate of mine when I was studying Architecture in UiTM, Faatin.
She's a newly engaged, so congrats on your engagement dear.

Owh, btw, Kak Nurul said she had a "keibuan" look on her face.
Hmm..

So, tonight, we did something different.
A fellow classmate of mine requested to do a party makeup.
So what's party without a whole lots of glitters, right?

First, Kak Nurul demonstrated the makeup on moi!
Too bad for me.
Well, not because I got the chance to be made up by Kak Nurul, but, because she only finished my one eye, and left the other one halfway.
Haha~ (saje je anda-anda yang berkaitan!!)
Anyway, we created the same look on all of our models.
It's a socket eye makeup with glittery turqouise blue on the lids and dark brown / black in the crease.

MAC Spring Color Forecast Launch Party

Hey guys!!
Sorry for the lack of update lately.
There was nothing much going on in my life as a makeup artist for the past week.
What a loser!
Haha~

Anyways, last night I was invited to the MAC Spring Color Forecast Launch Party, at Mid Valley Megamall.
The party was held at the centrecourt.

Entries are only upon invitation only, so you either have to be a MAC Pro Card member or a celebrity makeup artist, or a celebrity, or the press.
Well, I was neither one of those (at least not yet =)), but I went with my great guru, Nurul Shukor, who was kind enough let us tag along.
There was a lot of celebrities joining, Zizan Nin, Yasmin Hani, Amber Chia, just naming a few who showed up.

I had a lot of fun trying out all the new products from the line, oh, and I love the perfumes.
My fave is the one from the Orange collection (I can't remember the collection number).
I didn't bother to snap pictures of the celebrities there, I was more interested in the catwalk and the makeup demo. I snapped pictures of all the models that showcased the new line.

I'm not going to talk about the products here, cause there is a whole lot of reviewers who have reviewed it online, so I'm just here to share my experience.
Although I did had my eyes on some of the glosses and lipsticks (hopefully I could gain enough extra money in the near future before they are discontinued).

So, that's all I have to say.

Sisterly Love Makeover

The two of us, Sya and I, were bored one Wednesday afternoon, so we decided to play with my makeup. At first I wanted to give her a makeover, but then she thought of giving me a makeover instead. Great! Instead of my doing all the work, I could just sit back while someone else is doing my makeup. That is actually a very rare occasion.

She did mine and I did hers.

As Sya wanted to learn in the same time, I guided her through all my makeover process an even did some of the step on one side of my face so she could copy. But the lighting in my house is so horrible, we ended up not being able to see the contouring at all. So the outcome is a bit patchy and uneven.

Then it was my turn to give her a makeover. I gave her a dark pink and black smokey eye. Something similar to my banner picture. But due to the bad lighting and lack of space for movement, the result is not my best, but I tried. Hehe~

So here is the before and after.
Notice all the shadings are uneven and patchy.

And then Elyna came home, and decided to join our little makeover.
She wanted me to do her makeup, but I was so hungry by that time, I decided to take a break and let Sya to the foundation for Elyna.

Then I continue with her shading, eyes and so on. I gave her a soft socket look using a shimmery gold rose color on the lids.

Valentine's Makeover Part 5 | Fatin

The final victim for our little makeover party held at Glory Beach Resort, Port Dickson was my little cousin (well, not so little anymore), Adeq Fatin. As we started it was already late, 9:30pm.
So, when asked,
"where are you going with all the makeup?",
she simply said,
"going to sleep, so i will look gorgeous when i see my dream guy".
Haha~

She often wear light makeup, nothing to dramatic and heavy, so she wanted me to give her a bright yet dramatic look, so initially I went for red on her eyes, but then gradually blends it into a bright orange color on her lids. The result is a super fiery smokey eyes!

After finish doing her makeup I straight away took my camera and snap a few shots of the makeup, and let her view the shots that I took.
She was actually shocked by the photos (not to sure whether it's a good kinda shock or a bad one?). Only then I realized I haven't let her see the final outcome. I forgot to hand her the mirror. Sorry Fatin!

As I go on viewing the pictures on my camera, I realized she did looked a lot different. My sister and cousin was more amazed as they saw the before picture after going through the afters.

So, here is the before and after:
She actually have beautiful clear skin, the photo might look a bit patchy as I had applied some foundation on parts of her face.

Note: Her face is naturally tanner than her neck cuz she wears hijab, so I tried to match the color on her neck for this makeup session.

Valentine's Makeover Part 4 | 'Kak' Ude Norlia

Yup yup yup!
She was super excited with this makeover party thingy.
I had no problems doing her makeup. She's already a natural beauty, so not much work to do on her. (Saje puji lebih2 siket =))

She wanted me to do something different for her. She said she's so used to smokey look with lots of browns and greens, so she wanted me to do something colorful for her. So, that's exactly what I did for her.

Valentine's Makeover Part 3 | Kak Zahirah

Kak Zahirah is actually Kak Fira's (previous post) younger sister. She was generous enough to volunteer to be my next victim for our Valentine's day makeover party. Yeayy!
She hesitated at first, but she gave in at last.

On her, I went with a soft socket olive green on the eyes (I didn't even asked her if she have any color she would prefer, how rude! Sorry Kak Zahirah, terlupa! =)). And, well green goes well with orange, so I went orange on everything else. Gave her a peachy coral blush on the cheeks and a bloody orange on the lips.

Valentine's Makeover Part 2 | Kak Zafirah

So our makeover party on Valentine's day continues with my next victim, Kak Zafirah. She's actually a cousin of mine from Singapore.

Well, Kak Fira (as we call her) hardly wear any makeups so, she requested me to do something that she can try and do it on herself later. So I went with earthy colors on her eyes and gave her a peachy-golden glow on her cheeks and spicy brown lips.

Valentine's Makeover Part 1 | Mak Sue Liza

So, I just got home from Glory Beach Resort in Port Dickson. My family went for a vacation over there on the 13th of February.. We stayed there for 3 days.. It was sort of a family reunion with a total of 5 families joining. We had a blast!!

Ayways, as it was Valentine's day on Sunday, and us girls had nothing else better to do, we decided to have a makeover party in our apartment.

So here is my first victim!! Introducing my Mak Sue Liza!! Taa daa!!

So that's all I have on her. She had beautiful skin, so I had no problems on the foundation department. I used my Revlon Colorstay Liquid Makeup in Golden Tan 310. I think it suits her skin color. She's is a great canvas. Anybody would love to make her up!

Model Makeover with Diyana Qish - 11.02.10

After not having classes for awhile, I finally went for another session of my professional makeup class today. And this time I brought my number one loyal model, my dearie Dean. Thank you so much Dean! (aku taw kau pnat jadi model aku, kene sental muke malam2, thanks dean, I really appreciate it!)

I was about an hour late, cuz I had a long drive tiring drive prior to my class, but at least I made it. I did everything in a rush cuz I didn't want to finish late and make my tutor wait for me.

But of course, working is such a rush, you will miss a step or two. I forgot to apply mascara on her lash and bind her real ones with the falsies, bu other than that, I think its not too bad. Although I personally think I can do better.

I was going through my makeup pictures and I found a look that I don't think I have posted it anywhere accept for including it in my Makeup Looks video.

I really love this look. I don't remember everything that I used for this look, but I surely can remember which blue I used.
Obviously it is the blue from my PAC Pearly Eyeshadow Palette (my love!! =)).
Ugh!! I am freaking in love with that palette, I can't say it enough.
The purple, I think it's an Elianto colour.
I don't remember the name of it, but I think it is discontinued.

And I love my hair colour in these pics.
I only kept that color for a few weeks, then I bleached it again and went straight to red, because my family freaked out with me being super blonde!
Lol~

Freelance: Good Skin Labs Workshop

Hello ladies. And guys.
The last weekend, I volunteered at the Good Skin Labs Workshop that was held at the Starz Studio, SOGO.
The Nurul Shukor Academy sent us here. There were 5 of us.
It was a two days event, and we were required to do touch ups (not makeover!!) on their participants.

Well, it was an unpaid job, but we did get some free products.
I received a full size Smooth 365 worth RM195, and some sample sizes of their best selling products, the Tri-Aktiline, and also their newly launched Lumecin.
Pretty excited to try those stuff because I've heard very good reviews on them.

Anyways, the guest celebrity was Sheila Rusly.
I can't believe how skinny she actually is.
So I guess it is true that the camera actually adds 10 pounds to someone.
Bummer!

I did meet a lot of cool people there.
There was Sheila Rusly's personal makeup artist, Mr. Emmy Agung.
And some of the participants were pretty cool as well.
I did manage to get to know and chat a little bit with a few of the participants.
But I'm sorry, I did not get their names.
They took my business card with them, so if you happen to read this entry, do leave a comment.
You know who you are. =)

Oh yeah. I had a picture taken with Sheila Rusly, but that was it.
It was a rush and I did not manage to take photos with any of the ladies that I made up that day.

Model Makeover with Ita - 27.01.10

Yeay!
Another day for another makeup adventure!!
I brought Chimey again to class today.
Because she is a famous Shah Alam celebrity. Thehe~

But then, Munirah and I decided to trade models.
So instead, I got the chance to makeup her beautiful and lovely sister-in-law, Kak Ita. ~~Chimey~~.
Well, I just call her Ita, because I myself, don't like to be called KAK!
Ita is a very cute and pretty lady indeed, big eyes, cute nose, and small tiny lips.
In certain angle I thought she looked a bit like Michelle Phan.
Kawaii!!

She was wearing a red shirt, but I did not want to do another red look this week, so I choose a totally contrasting color for her eyes today, GREEN!

On her lids, I used MAC's Swimming which was a gorgeous green color.
At first I thought that it was going to be a darker green, but when I did a swatch, it wasn't too intense and was just really pretty.

Again, with the 'soft-socket' eyes, brown on crease, black on the outer corner, yada.. yada.. BAMM!
I used MAC's blusher in Peaches and gave her a peachy pink lips and it was all good.

Model Makeover with Chimey - 26.01.10

I'm baaackkk!
With another makeup adventure.
For today's class, I brought another good friend of mine, the famous celebrity, Miss Chimey!! (Lol~ famous ke?)
I had to import her from Shah Alam, which is a far faraway land in case you guys don't know.
I picked her up right after work and brought her straight to Nurul Shukor Academy here in Ampang.
Kak Nurul seemed surprise because I actually came even though I was fashionably LATE.
I didn't come to class for a whole week the last time we had classes.
Something else was up during that 'time'.

Anyway, back to my makeup adventure for today.
Basically the same thing as the last makeup I did for this class, 'soft-socket eyes'. Yeah, I know.
BORING!!! Lol~
But Kak Nurul said that we need to practice and practice more and try to perfect our individual skills.

Well, my special skill is in my blending, and also my ability to NOT make the face freaking symmetrical!
Lol~
Yeah, I'm a total failure at that department!
I can't make my shading perfect on each side.
That's my secret to gorgeous makeup.
Hahah~

So, on Chimey I used MAC's Coppering on the lids.
Is was a gorgeous copper reddish color, which I have to love!
I think Elianto have something similar, just not as silky.
I think it was a brave color to choose, and I think I had just enough bravery to pull it out last night.
Well, the other part of the makeup was just the same, brown along the crease, black on the outer corner, and bla.. bla.. bla...

And for the lips, I used a matching color, sort of coppery red, and I think it turned out pretty, it didn't overpower the eyes at all.

Model Makeover with Dean - 07.01.10

Another day for a new makeup adventure!
Again I brought my long lost twin sister to class today.
Yesterday, everybody thought the two of us were sisters.
Even Kak Nurul.
I simply answered "Yes, Kak Nurul. We are sisters, but only with different parents!"
Lol~ Kak Nurul laughed and she start cursing in Bahasa Melayu (faham-faham sajalah mulut dia).

Anyways, I did the same technique as yesterday, I only changed the color.
And I also skipped the Malu Wilz Cream Eyeshadow that Kak Nurul suggested to use yesterday because I simply HATE it!
It makes the eyeshadow look like crap although it does makes the color appear more vibrant, but it is just too messy and the texture become uneven.

Today I used the best blue eyeshadow I ever had, and that is from my beloved PAC Pearly Palette (my love...).
I used that on the lids, bit of brown along the crease, a bit of black liquid liner blended on the outer corner, and I smoked it out using the black eyeshadow from the same palette.

It was gorgeous! But it would have been perfect if Dean wasn't crying her heart out!
Lol~
Well, she wasn't crying exactly, but her eyes were a bit sensitive.
It was even worst than the day before.
I could not connect the lower lash line to the outer corner, but it's all good at the end of it.

Model Makeover with Dean - 06.01.10

So this is the first time we were required to bring a model.
Yeah, we're supposed to do a total makeover on a model using the techniques we learned in the classes.

So, I brought one of my best girls, who happened to live so near, but yet so far, my dearie Dean. Haha~
I did the 'soft-socket' technique, which is basically using a color of your choice on lid, with a slightly deepened crease and dark outer corner. It's really pretty, giving the eyes extra definition and depth without being to dramatic and dark.

So, for Dean here I used the liquid liner technique that Kak Nurul thought us.
Using it on the outer corner and blend it well into the skin to deepened the outer corner.

On the lids I used the best purple from MAC, Stars n' Rocket.
I used it both on the lids and on the lower lashline, but it totally became a different color because I layer it on a black liner and that makes it appear like a bluish indigo color.
So pretty!!

So, here is a picture of her before and after.
She's just as pretty without makeup right? (total envy!!)

I promise, the foundation I choosed matches her skintone.
It just seems a bit off due to the lighting.
The before was without flash,while the after is with.

Heyy all!
I haven't post any updates since New Year.
Lol~
So, here it goes..

Well, in my previous post, I did mentioned that I have joined a professional makeup class.
That's one of the reasons why I haven't upload any vids on my Youtube account.
I've been busy.

The class itself isn't that time consuming.
It's just that the free time that I usually use to create new looks for my channel is used as my practicing time for what I've learned in the classes.
I don't feel like filming tutorials on that because it's basically the same thing over and over again.
I'm perfecting my skill on a particular makeup technique and I don't think it is much fun to watch.

So, I'm thinking of something new to do on this blog.
A lot of my classmates have started their own makeup blogs.
Well, unlike me, they have actually started their professional career as a freelance makeup artist.
Unlike me, who is still doing nothing at home.
Yeah, I know, I'm so unproductive.

But, did you know, you actually need a lot of money to start your own professional makeup kit?
The last time I've estimated, it's about RM4000 - RM5000 (we're talking 80% MAC products).
Dayumn!!
Where in the world am I supposed to find that kind of money.
So, I've tried to minimize what ever I possibly can.
Give and take, a bit of MAC (15%), Kryolan (10%), PAC (25%), Farmasi (25%) and what ever I already have (a.k.a my huge collection of Elianto eye shadows) well, I probably need about RM2000 more.
Hopefully not more than that.

So, back to this blog update, I think I'm gonna post more makeup photos that I did for my classes.
Well, we have started to do makeup on models, instead of doing in it on our own face, which is kinda boring if you think about it.
So watch out for that.
And yeah, hopefully I will start posting photos of my actual "professional makeup job" (post-grad *wink*) soon enough.

Midnight Sun Look

So, the last time I have posted anything was about two months ago. That is a very long time. I have been busy. I'm currently attending a professional makeup class, held by a very well known celebrity makeup artist in this country. It has been a little bit disappointing these past few weeks (class cancellation and busy schedule of our guru), but I really hope that we can finish the course A.S.A.P. I can't wait to be a certified makeup artist and start my freelancing job in the next coming year.

Anyway, I have created a look today using mainly black and yellow. I have recently read the initial draft of Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer. It's actually the same story as Twilight but we're reading through Edward's point of view. It's very exciting, too bad Ms. Meyer have stopped writing it after the draft was leaked through the internet. Hmm.. (silent cry ~.~ )

Back to our look for today, it's a very wearable smokey look (i think) with a hint of bright color. It's pretty simple to do too, just follow my step by step tutorial video. But before that, here's a few pictures of the final look:

Tari Tirana's Tirana Inspired Look

So, have you guys ever watched Tari Tirana? I kinda like the series, although I have to admit, it is typical story. I mean people would say that it's just another rip-off of a lot of the American's dance flick, like Step Up or Make It Happen, just to name a few.

But, I do respect this series for trying to make something different for our local film and drama industry. TV3 have aired some really good series lately. Some of my favorite are Sindarela and Nur Kasih (thanks to my friend Amy, who recommended it).

Anyway, back to my post title. I've been following this series for a few weeks now, and I really enjoy it. And of course I can't stop noticing, that the cast members actually have pretty good makeup on, compared to other series that I've watched. One of the looks that caught my attention was worn by Tirana (played by Wan Sharmila also from Sindarella) on an episode that was aired on the 6th of October, and it was this really pretty, sweet looking baby pink, smokey eye makeup, and I just have to recreate it.

Arabian Sunrise Masquerade Look

Another dramatic and theatrical look by moi!!!
So, one of the cutest and funniest guru on Youtube (at least to me =)) was holding a contest. She goes by the username NikkieTutorials, and she's super talented and pretty as well. Her contest was called Nikkie's Masquerade Ball Contest, and we are supposed to create a mask loo. It sounded like so much fun right? It was fun to create my entry look. I had this idea of creating a mask some what similar to the one on Snow White's evil stepmother. Well, she wasn't wearing a mask exactly but she had something that could resemblance a skiing mask, something like. So, that's what I tried to do. I covered the area aroung my eyes and also following my jawline, leaving the area around my mouth and nose bare. I don't know if you guys get what I'm trying to describe, but here's a few pictures:

Garden Fairy Inspired Look

So, I was Googling some ideas for Halloween costumes, and I stumbled upon a really cute kiddies costume. It was a pretty purple dress with green reflects on it, with Fairy wings and other accessories. It was soo cuteeee. So, I thought I do a look inspired by the color combination. And then I remembered a contest that I wanted to enter and the theme was to create a look using the colors blue or green or both, and it was the perfect opportunity for look. So, here it is, my pretty fairy creation:

Pixar's For The Birds Inspired Look

So here's my final installment to my Deannario, GoldieStarling & SharksBiteOfLife's Pixar Inspired Contest. Yayy!!

So, for this look, I've chosen a short film by Pixar that's called for the birds. I really really do like the film. To me, it has a lot of morale values to it, and it certainly was interesting.

My inspiration of course come from the outstanding colors of the birds that are blue (from the feathers) and also some orange and yellow (from the feets and beaks). Isn't it obvious already?

I really am sorry because I can't list out all the products that I've used just because I don't remember it. But I'd be glad if someone would request it, I might re-do this look, at least something similar and more wearable.

Simply Smouldering Look

This was my entry for SassySunshiny01 & MadMadamJess simply Smouldering Contest.

I really like this particular look. It's dark with a touch of two of my favorite colors, pink and purple!! It's my ultimate smokey look, and I'm in love with it. I also love the highlighting lines on the inner and outer corner. It makes the whole look a look more interesting than just a plain smokey look.

It does have an Arabic feel to it with the blended gradient effect and the crisp edge. I hope you guys would love this look as much as I do.

A Day With My Little Cousin - Spidey vs. Venom

Hey guys!!
So, I have been spending a whole lots of time with my little cousin. His name ia Aish. He is only 5 years old.

The reason why I have been spending time with him is that his nanny was on leave for two months and his parents have asked me to sort of baby-sits him while his nanny come back.

So one day I decided to play with my makeup and have him as the model. Too bad he's a boy, otherwise, I would have dolled him up and have a hella fun time together.

So, instead, I face painted him, using my makeup, my eyeshadows to be exact. And believe in or not, I only used my Elianto eyesdows, and it worked!!

I did this mask of Spidey on one side and Venom on the other. I even did all the shadings on the venom just t give it a sort 3D effect. He did enjoyed himself, eventhough he fell asleep during the process.

Anywhoo, here's a few of the pictures I have managed to take before he rubbed him face on the sofa. Don't forget to watch the video montage as well!!

MAC's Style Warrior - Gold Rebel Look

When I first saw this look on the MAC's website, I knew I had to do this. It is soo pretty. The purple really pops out with the yellow on the lids. It is such a contrasting color combo, but still, the outcome was beautiful. For this look I didn't use any of the actual products from MAc. I used what ever stuff I have. My Inner Vamp Look

With that said, lets go on with this post. This look is my entry for Danalajeunesse's Inner Vamp Contest. I really love this contest. It gives a chance to bring out my inner vamp look. I have been wanting to do a sort of dark vampy look for so long, and this is it!

I played with red, brown and black ( all three from my PAC Pearly Palette <-- my love!) and I really like the outcome. This is one of my best blended look and I'm in love with it! And the cheeks is also something that I love. I really contoured the face with some really dark powder and apply a really really red shadow as my blush! And of course, I highlighted my face like crazy, and I mean white matte shadow and some sparkle powder to really give the look a white frosty "dead-ish" look. Lol~ I would have changed the lip color but, it was so late in the morning, I just to get it done. So here are some photos:

Little Mermaid: Ursula Inspired Look

Another Under the Sea Inpired Look, sort of.. But this time it is based on the villain of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Ursula. She's the big bad lady octopus that took Ariel's voice when she decided to become human. I think.. I don't really remember.

Anyway, this is my entry for Juicystar07 1 Year Anniversary Contest. It is more of a dramatic look, but I think you can still wear it minus the tentacles design. It's a cut crease eye makeup with vibrant blue on the lids and deep dark purple in the crease. It wasn't so hard coming up with the color combination. I just took Ursula's actual eye makeup and translated it into mine.

And the tentacles is just for added dramatic effects. I wanted to create a mask but not like a typical mask covering around the eye area, but I wanted the tentacles to sort of wrapping the face. That's why I made it asymmetrical intead of symmetrical on both sides..

Again I won't post the actual products used because this was done about a week ago. So sorry guys.

Oriental Inspired Pinup Look

Hey guys..
I haven't done much update for the past week..
It has been a very overwhelming week for me. I had to juggle between babysitting three of my younger cousin during the day and filming makeup video at night, and sort edit and upload them in between.. So, trying to find time to write was a bit hard.

Anyways, I'm back and I'm going to post all of the looks I've created in the pass whole week.. So, we are going to start from the top. It's my Oriental Inspired Pinup Look for HaleyBean and TresChicBeauty Hollywood Glam and Pinup Contest.

I can't list the products I've used because it had been quite some time and I have a memory span the size of a peanut. So yeah.

So, the look is kinda different from the original and typical pinup look. It is inspired by the asian or oriental makeup style during the same period of Hollywood Glam (that is during the 50's and 60's), sort of.

They do have a similar cultures such as pinup and also their own glamorous actresses at that time. But the makeup had a lot definition in the sense of colors and intensity.I think this is due to the fact that they were women of colors, so, they need a bit more pigmentation to enhance their features and at the same time define their own culture.

Finding Nemo: Gill Inspired Look

So, hey guys.
I really hope you guys will love my entry this time.
It's actually for Deanario's Pixar Inspired Contest.
The theme was to choose a movie by Pixar and create a look (dramatic or wearable) base on any of the elements found in the movie such as the characters, scene, or just the colors used.

I haven's done any thing super dramatic lately, so I thought that I would give it a shot once more, since the gurus that are hosting this contest are doing a lot of these kinda of makeup for their channel.

It's based on the character Gill, from Finding Nemo. The one in the aquarium in the dentist's office. So, that's where all the colors came from. Yellow, black and white.

I didn't post a tutorial for this look for some reason.
A. It took me sooooo long to finish this look, and I don't think it could fit into a video.
B. The contest didn't require any tutorial, so I was so glad for that.

Mermaid Inspired Look

So, hey guys.
This is actually an entry for BrushingOnBeauty's Under The Sea Theme Contest.
So my inspiration came from a picture of a mermaid.
That's where I get my color combo which aqua green, dark blue, purple and a hint of yellow, which I think really brightens up the whole look.
The most interesting part bout this is actually the false lashes.
I actually made that one. Well, not from scratch of course, but I sort of, 'fancified' it bit more.
I used an old pair of lashes of mine and stick some sequins on the band, and also, I covered parts of the lashes with baby blue glitters.
So, it gives an overall frosty effect to the look.

Woody Woodpecker Inspired Look

So, this is my entry for PiinkBeautyy's Cartoon Inspired Contest.

I had so much fun doing this look, as this was my first time coming up with a look using all three primary colors in one look.

At first I wasn't really digging this look, cause I thought that the color combo weren't mixing well together.
In real life, it was kinda okay, but I thought that it was gonna come out patchy and muddy and all ugly on pictures, but man, I was wrong.
I mean, you can really tell the true red, true blue and true yellow from the pictures , but still it all come together in creating one superrocking look!

The color inspiration obviously came from the colors of Woody Woodpecker himself.
The blue body, yellow beak and of course the red head.

But, come to think of it, this look is definately suitable as a Merdeka Celebration look, as its already August, and our independence day is so near.
MERDEKA!!

First Ever Post!!!

Hey there.
As the title says, this is my first ever post here.

Just as introduction, I have been doing makeup seriously for about 2 years now.
Although I'm just a self thought makeup artist, I have learned a lot on my own, from books, magazines, and also from a number of makeup gurus that are kind enough to share their knowledge and experiences through video tutorials on Youtube. I thank them so much for their generosity.

With passion and inspiration from these gurus, I, myself have started sharing my knowledge, experiences, and my own touch of creavity online.
I have done several tutorial videos, entered a few contest held by Youtube gurus, and even winning one.
So now, my only hope is that, I could be an inspiration for others just like these gurus have been to me.

Here, on this blog, I'm gonna share pics of the looks I'll be uploading on Youtube, and also other looks that I did not manage to film. Hopefully, I could also manage to post pictures of my freelancing work online.
